[ARCHIVED] Free Temple City Program Promotes Civic Awareness

Temple City’s popular Citizen’s Academy program is back for its third round. Residents and business owners are encouraged to apply for the six-session series to learn about City Hall. Each lesson is designed to familiarize community members with the City’s decision-making process and allow them to participate in their local government. Topics include City Hall functions, revenue and spending, neighborhood preservation, economic development, public safety, and parks and recreation.

Participants must be 18 years or older, and live or work in Temple City. The program runs for six consecutive Thursdays from Oct. 16 thru Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. Locations vary, but are typically held at City facilities.

Applications are due Friday, Sept. 26 and may be submitted online or in person at City Hall. Selected participants must be able to commit to the full program. For more information, call (626) 285-2171.
