Although the City contracts with Los Angeles
County for Building and Safety services, the Building program is
based in City Hall.
The City's Building/Housing Assistant receives
plans for building plan check and issues building permits
between 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday
through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. - 4:00
p.m. on Friday. If you are traveling a long distance to
obtain building permits, it is recommended that you call (626)
285-0488 to ensure that someone is available to issue permits or
to make an appointment.
The City's Building Inspector has counter hours at City Hall between 7:30 a.m.
- 9:00 a.m. and
4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Building
inspections are conducted between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Thursday.
What do I need a permit for?
Painting, flooring and kitchen cabinet replacement are the only
types of home improvements that do not require a
permit. For information regarding
