Learn how you can help out during natural disasters and other emergencies. If you are interested in local public safety volunteer programs, please contact Public Safety Supervisor Bryan Ariizumi at (626) 285-2171 or email@example.com.
The City's free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates people in disaster preparedness and basic disaster response skills. Lessons are spread over a 20-hour training—typically taking place over a series of three Saturdays or compressed into one weekend starting Friday evening.
CERT training includes Emergency Preparedness, Fire Safety, Emergency Medical Operations, Light Search & Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Terrorism, and Disaster Simulation. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an emergency event when emergency personnel may not be immediately available to help.
It is essential for CERT trained community members to continue to practice their skills on a regular basis. To learn more about the program, contact Public Safety Supervisor Bryan Ariizumi at (626) 285-2171 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
