General municipal elections for City Council and ballot measures are held the first Tuesday in March of odd-numbered years. The City Clerk's Office conducts municipal elections in accordance to procedures established by the California Elections Code.
NOTICE FOR 2017 GENERAL mUNICIPAL ELECTION:
NOMINATING PERIOD NOV. 14 - DEC. 9, 2016
For this March election, voters will be voting to fill 2 councilmember seats for a term of four-years beginning March 2017 and ending March 2021. The City Clerk’s Office will be issuing nomination papers from Nov. 14 to Dec. 9 to qualified candidates. Those interested in pulling nomination paper should make an appointment with the City Clerk (appointment will last 30-45 minutes).Deadline to register to vote for the March 2017 Election is Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Voter registration forms are available in City Hall City Clerk’s Office or to register online, go to www.lavote.net.
Poll workers are needed for the March 7, 2017 City election. We especially need Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese speakers. Please call the City Clerk’s Office at (626) 285-2171 for more information.
